Indiana Kelley MBA Essay Questions and Tips


1. Discuss your immediate post-MBA short- and long-term professional goals. How will your professional experience, when combined with a Kelley MBA degree, allow you to achieve these goals? Should the short-term goals you have identified not materialize, what alternate career paths might you consider? (500 words)


What is your ideal first job after graduating? Show which industry, what role, and what you want to achieve through that role. How have your past experiences, interests, abilities and values come together to set a clear direction for your career? To excel in the future role, what do you want to learn and experience at business school? How will specific aspects of this MBA help you obtain the learning?   


2. Please respond to one of the following short essay prompts. (300 words)

a. My greatest memory is...

b. I'm most afraid of...

c. My greatest challenge has been...

d. I'm most proud of...


Choose the option that allows you to share something substantial about who you are - an important trait, a significant experience, a great influence. 


3. Share a brief fact about yourself that your classmates would find interesting, surprising, or noteworthy. (25 words)


What is that one unique thing about you that your professional colleagues are unlikely to know?  Show a different side to you.  


4. Is there anything else that you think we should know as we evaluate your application? If you believe your credentials and essays represent you fairly, you shouldn't feel obligated to answer this question. (300 words)


Address any weaknesses here: low grades, GMAT score, employment gaps, anything that you think raises a red flag in your profile.
